Autumn is HerePosted on Oct 11, 2017 by Maryland Sunrooms
A change in the season always calls for a change in the décor. It’s been hard for us to get in the mood since it’s felt more like summer than it has autumn. Here’s a few sure-fire tips to get you feeling fresh for fall.
We love the coziness of fire. Candles are a wonderful alternative for creating a warm atmosphere. Combine centerpieces with pinecones, leaves, or pieces of wood for a real outdoors feel.
Pro Tip: If you are worried about open flames, we highly recommend Luminara Flameless candles.
Bring reds, golds, and deep blues into your room for an overall cozy feeling. Throw pillows, table accents, and area rugs are a great bang for your buck for giving your home an instant autumn make-over!
Pro Tip: Buy pillow covers instead of pillows. This makes it easy to switch out decorations for the seasons, and a cinch to store!
There is nothing like the smell of the season. For a simple, non-toxic way to make your home smell like fall, try an autumn simmer pot! Just pour water into a crockpot or a stovetop pan, add in cloves, apple slices, orange peels, and cinnamon sticks; turn on low and let the warm scent wash through your house!
Pro Tip: Replace the water with cider, or your favorite red wine (we suggest Cabernet Sauvignon!) and you have the perfect seasonal drink!
Autumn Container Gardening
Beautiful fall colors don’t just have to stop at the door! Consider planting some hardy plants together like ‘Purple Pixie’ Loropetalum, ‘Lemon Lime’ Nandina, ‘Fireworks’ Pennisetum, & ‘Alabama Sunset’ Coleus for a beautiful fall touch to your porch!
Pro Tip: Container gardens are a great way to spruce up any area. If the weather gets too cold, they can easily be moved inside to brighten up any room!
