Neighbors helping neighbors with Little Free Pantry in Mount Airy, MD

Free little pantry

As WBAL‘s Lacee Griffith reported in July, neighbors are getting into the helpful spirit by leaving behind any pantry items they may not need. The pantry items are free to those who need them, found in a little box just installed in the heart of Mt Airy, MD along Main St.

Just like “Have a penny, leave a penny; need a penny, take a penny” seen in any local convenience store the pantry works the same way! Little Free Pantry is a small hand-built box on Main Street where those in need can find kitchen and bathroom items, but most importantly hygiene products.
“What you can find inside a Little Free Pantry is food, but most importantly, hygiene items,” said Mary Ann Glassic, of Damascus.

She started the pantry idea years ago, but sometime last year it was stolen. Good Samaritans like Rachel Smith quickly reached out through social media and Smith’s husband built another one, right here in Carroll County with plans to expand the idea to Montgomery County, specifically in Kensington and Germantown, MD area’s and hopefully expanding even further across Maryland.

Maryland Sunrooms loves the idea and you can drop off items in our showroom as well at 2902 BAck Acre Cir #2, Mt Airy D 21771 and we will deliver them for you! Thanks to all involved with the Little Free Pantry for helping our community and teaching our children a valuable lesson about giving back and helping those in need by being a great example!
