Gaining traction in early 2018, Modern Farmhouse searches on Etsy are up 142% compared to last year and according to Google Trends, interest in the search term doubled year over year.
The Modern Farmhouse style consists of warm tones, wood accents, plaid/striped or solid fabrics in dark reds, greys and blacks, beige and sage green hues, as well as galvanized steel, and other rustic, industrial, and vintage-themed materials. When considering your furnishings, Modern Farmhouse gears towards imperfect paint jobs, preferring chipping paint and a weathered look in beige or cream paired with bright and bold hues; Modern Farmhouse is the opposite of perfection in all the best ways possible. In fact, you don’t even have to match your furniture (mixing and matching furniture from many different styles is what makes Modern Farmhouse, well, modern).
